Happy Halloweeeeeeeen, everybody! I hope the Great Pumpkin brings you all of the candy you could ever want. In a cruel, cruel irony, I lost a filling today, which means that I really shouldn’t have any of the Sour Patch Kids that we’re giving out until it gets fixed.

Halloween is difficult in Germany. Not only have we got lots of those joyless, sad people raging against “Americanisation”, or religious nuts worrying about satanism… (Now that I think about that, you obviously get those second ones, too.)
Also, you never know if any children will show up because it’s just not quite established. Last year I was caught completely unprepared, this year I stocked up for nothing.

I took the kids trick or treating at all the Jehovah’s Witness houses in my area, just to give them a taste of their own medicine.
