New Story Complete!

I’ve just finished a short story called “Scrumptious Bone Bread.” This story was not pre-accepted by the editor to whom it will be sent, which is always a pain because it forces you to try to write something that the editor will consider “good.”

If it does get rejected, which it BETTER NOT, I haven’t yet decided if I’ll take the “cry” approach or the “temper tantrum” approach.

Here’s to it getting approved! If for some reason it doesn’t, I say take the cry route, then the temper tantrum route, then the drive your car through their front window finale.

Option 3, hit them where they live, in the wallet. Of course you still might feel the need to throw in a little of options 1 & 2.

Format it for kindle and put it out there for .99. You know your fans will gobble it up. And the folks that have been on the fence, wanting to try something from that “Strand fellow” they’ve heard so much about will grab it too. (I can’t tell you how many things I’ve bought for .99 to give the author a try.)

Come spring, when the story has sold 50-60,000 copies, walk into the publisher’s office, put your thumbs in your ears, waggle your fingers and say, “Nanny nanny poo poo,” or something equally as childish. It may not be professional, but it will feel damn satisfying.

Of course, when they accept the title, delete all traces of this…
