A Junior Library Guild pick! Whoa!
Everything 16-year-old Henry was dreading about survival camp turns out to be true—or even worse. The only thing to help get him through is his equally unathletic best friend Randy and the discovery of a girls’ music camp just down the path.
But they’ll soon have a lot more than obnoxious “drill counselors” and too many push-ups to worry about. The owner of Strongwoods Survival Camp has taken out some loans with very dangerous men to keep himself afloat, and when a trio of them show up to collect, things go bad. Very bad. With a camp now full of armed killers, survival now has a whole new meaning for the campers…
(It’s a comedy.)
“In this gleefully… wickedly funny adventure, Strand balances action with laugh-out-loud humor, making this a thoroughly entertaining not-quite-coming-of-age tale.” – Publishers Weekly
“It’s… funny, and the gags turn in unexpected directions and would do Saturday Night Live skits proud.” – Kirkus
“Strand couples a rapid patter of well tuned gags and teen banter to a plot marked by sudden violence and intervals of intense terror. It’s humorof a knee-slapping, yet decidedly edgy kind.” – Booklist

Hi, Steve! There won’t be a hardcover of this one. It’s a young adult comedy with no horror elements that will have a widely distributed paperback edition, and so the audience for a limited edition would be pretty much non-existent. I know that YOU’D buy it, but you’d probably be the only one! 🙂

You’re right…I’d buy it for sure. I’ll settle for the paperback but don’t let this happen again!

So my son is 9 (almost 10) and we just finished this book together. I may have changed a “few” words – haha.. but he absolutely LOVED this book. We read a few chapters every night and most nights he would not want to put it down. It was great to hear him literally laugh out loud during most of the story and so anxious to hear about what happens next. Thanks for a great book!!

Hi Jeff, My 11 y/o son absolutely loved this book, finishing it in just a couple of days. Do you have any similar books that I could pass along to him?
Thanks for a great story.

That’s great to hear! I’m glad he enjoyed it! Probably the closest thing I’ve got is THE GREATEST ZOMBIE MOVIE EVER.

To fit an arrow to a bowstring is to “nock” it. To “notch” the arrow it would be stupid (it would negatively affect the aerodynamics of one’s arrow’s).
